Singapore in a weekend

A Quick picture diary for you all

Flew Thursday evening, and arrived early on Friday morning, and checked into our (fantastic) hotel before heading out for breakfast - in my case an apple werm (very tasty)

Me and Doug took the cable car over to Sentosa Island (the pleasure resort for Singapore)

On the Cable Car

On the Island out first stop was the Sky Tower

Which provided stunning views over the island and the busiest harbour in the world - look at how many tankers!

CBD in the background with port in the foreground right

Then a trip to the marvellous Butterfly Garden and Insect Kingdom

Then off to Underwater world - a cracking aquarium

Lunch was required, so a trip to the beach for a salad and pizza - food such a marvellous contrast to Bangalore. In fact everything a massive contrast to Bangalore - food, cleanliness, traffic shopping, language comprehension. Just a massive improvement all round!

After visiting the pink dolphin show we took the cable car over to Mount Faber for a great view of the city

And then we headed back to the hotel for a rest and nap before heading out to the acclaimed Night Safari

No pictures beause of the light, but we stayed from 7pm-11pm, great couple of shows and long walk through the rainforest with well designed and lit closures showing off the night behaviour of animals - lots of more active animals than in a daytime zoo. The bats, otters and big cats were highlights

Next morning Doug and I took a city tour. We weren't too happy with being shown around little India!

Saw Chinatown and taken down to the Harbourfront

And finally to the Botanic Gardens and National Orchid Gardens - brought bak some memories for me!

I then walked all afternoon through the city

Saw the Merlion

And took a bumboat ride down the river (Behind me the Equniox Restaurant (see later) and the Esplanade Theatre complex

Just as the rain started - I was so happy! First rain in 3 months!

Lovely Lunch

Raffles - Singapores Founder

The Padang, rain stops play on the cricket ground in front of the supreme court and city hall

Afternoon swim in the rain in our mineral water swimming pool

Evening drinks in Raffles Hotel

What else but a Singapore Sling

Cheers

Exceptional food (and wierd plates) at Equinox Restaurant

And a superb view from the 70th Floor Restaurant

Followed by drinks in the Marina Mandarin hotel - still a great lobby!

Mike and His Merlion toilet roll dispenser!

Oh YEs!

Shopping Singapore Style on Sunday Morning

And a piture of the superb roads!

Indian ocean on the fly back!
